Day 31: The Bride of Boogedy
Boogedy's trying to come back to Lucifer Falls in this follow-up to the 1986 TV-movie, "Mr. Boogedy," which features half of the cast from the first film. This time around, Mr. Boogedy possesses several people and tries to get them to return his magic cloak to him, which plans to use to again wreak havoc on the living. But he's also looking to find his beloved Marion, and he'll stop at nothing to get her -- even if he has to make a new Marion.
It's sort of a shame that they stopped the series after this one. Although John Astin and some other cast members from Mr. Boogedy were somewhat poorly replaced, the story and effects were much better in this installment. Since the first film was the pilot for a TV show that never got going, it's at least good that they followed it with an actual film. This one tends to be more goofy/funny than scary, and is a great way to spend a Halloween evening.

Day 30: Follow that Goblin!
A singing, dancing and rapping extravaganza erupts when Scott and his sister Abby tour the haunted house on Halloween night. The two are trapped in the murky mansion when they stop to help Herbert the Goblin, a hapless haunt who's lost the will to frighten. He teaches the monsters how to be truly scary and save the house.
This is obviously from the same people who did the Penny cartoon and much of the claymation on Pee Wee's Playhouse. Simple, crude, and cheaply done, but extremely entertaining. Great for children, of course, but there is a lot to consider here. The haunted house almost comes across as a squatter's den at times and the lessons can even be interpreted as ever so slightly socialist by the discerning viewer. But most of you will never see that. The over-the-top combo of soulful music and tender renditions will be enough - something to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside without the disgust and nausea of many children's movies.

Day 29: Powerpuff Girls - Boogie Frights
Boogie Frights:
The Boogie Man hatches an evil plan to banish light so he and his friends can have some room to operate. Things get pretty scary when he has the main power line cut and blocks out the sun with a giant disco ball. The Girls destroy the disco ball and save the day.
Abracadaver:
Al Lusion, the old-time Townsville magician, died tragically years ago. But it turns out he was actually zombified, as Abracadaver. The demolition of Townsville Theater zaps this zombie back to life, but he doesn't get far when Blossom performs a little magic trick of her own.
The Powerpuff Girls had quite the following back in the day, but for some reason I never was much of a fan. The animation just isn't for me, and the storylines just interest me very little. But again, they had quite the following, so here's is a Halloween-themed episode:

Day 28: Alice - Alice's Halloween Surprise
Hoping for a romantic rendezvous with her new boyfriend Mitch, Alice is instead saddled with the responsibility of escorting Mitch's four kids as they go trick-or-treating on Halloween. The situation turns out to be more trick than treat when one of the youngsters disappears.
I caught Alice reruns on TV a few years back, and thought it was a very good, witty program. I had only seen a couple of episodes when this Halloween one was added to my collection. This one is on par with the other episodes I have seen, but a little better because of the Halloween feel. The simplicity of the neighborhood, costumes, and trick or treaters are something all viewers can relate to.
